Man United’s Patrice Evra eyes Chelsea’s record points haul
Manchester United defender Patrice Evra says the Red Devils want to break Chelsea's record 95-point haul this season
Patrice Evra says Manchester United want to win their 13th Premier League title with a record points haul ahead of their trip to West Ham United on Wednesday.
The Red Devils currently have 80 points with six top-flight games remaining as United aim to beat Chelsea’s tally of 95 points in the Premier League in 2005.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are 15 points clear of rivals Manchester City in the title race, but Evra insisted the 19-time English champions want to win all of their remaining games.
“The boss is a winner. He has just told us to win the six games that are left,” Evra told the Manchester Evening News.
“He said before the Stoke game that the season starts now. That shows you the way he wants to win this 20th title. He told us not to think about the title, just think about winning those remaining games.
“We can still break the record. That is what he wants. He just wants to win game after game.
“The challenge for us is to win the six games that we have left. It won’t be easy, but that is the way the boss wants us to play.”
Evra is bidding to win a fourth Premier League title with United after completing a £5.5m move from Monaco to Old Trafford in 2006.
