Robin van Persie never played with the same intensity he is at Manchester United this season while he was at Arsenal, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 29-year-old Dutchman has been in brilliant form for the Red Devils since his £24m switch to Old Trafford last summer and has scored 19 Premier League goals to help United top the table.
Van Persie has made 41 appearances for club and country this season and Ferguson admits he will have to monitor the striker’s fitness in the run-in ahead of next Monday’s Manchester derby clash.
“With van Persie, we have to monitor it because we still don’t know all about Robin, and the kind of seasons he’s had,” Ferguson told Inside United.
“I don’t think he had a season of such intensity during his time at Arsenal, so we’ll have to look at that.”
Manchester United host Manchester City at Old Trafford on Monday, knowing a win over their derby rivals will allow them to open up an 18-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
