Ryan Bertrand eager for regular chances to impress at Chelsea

Ryan Bertrand is desperate to prove his worth to Chelsea and challenge Ashley Cole for the spot as the Blues’ regular left-back.
The 23-year-old defender has been limited to 12 Premier League starts this season but has still managed 34 appearances in all competitions for the west Londoners.
Bertrand made his 50th appearance for Chelsea in the 2-1 win over Sunderland on Sunday as he filled in for the injured Cole.
And although the England international accepts that squad rotation is to be expected at a club of Chelsea’s stature, he is hoping a regular run in the Blues’ first-team will lead to improved displays.
“I feel better the more games I get in sequence,” Bertrand told ChelseaTV. “I can start to express myself and as I get fitter and sharper mentally things come more naturally again.
“But that is part and parcel of being at a big club. You know you are in a big team and rotation is what it is going to be.
“If you look at the clubs throughout the leagues throughout the world there is fantastic competition for places and you have to be prepared for that.”
