Stoke City 1 Norwich 0: Tony Pulis insists the Potter deserved three points after securing a narrow victory at the Britannia
Tony Pulis insisted Stoke City deserved their much-needed victory after the Potters took a big step towards Premier League safety with a 1-0 win against Norwich.
Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam handed Stoke a vital 46th-minute lead after the Scotland international collected Peter Crouch’s flick and fired past Mark Bunn.
The gigantic striker could have doubled the home side’s lead later in the second half but missed a good chance, while the Canaries failed to produce a shot on target.
Stoke moved onto 40 points after their victory at the Britannia Stadium, while Chris Hughton’s men remain six points above 18th-placed Wigan Athletic.
“We deserved to win today, we created more opportunities,” Pulis told BBC Sport.
“The three points are vital because we have tough games coming up. Our first challenge is always to stay in the Premier League, anything else is a bonus.”
Norwich manager Hughton admitted his side didn’t do enough to merit victory against Tony Pulis’s men.
“We were in good form but we came up against a Stoke side that were back to their most direct,” he added.
“We didn’t do enough to win the game. We’ve got two home games now, which I’d like to think helps. But it’s a nervy part of the season.”
