Tottenham will fight until the end in top-four race, Wenger warns Arsenal
Arsene Wenger warns his Arsenal side that Tottenham will be pushing for a top-four finish "until the end" this season
Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal that Tottenham will be pushing for a top-four finish “until the end” and called on his side to take the initiative by beating Norwich on Saturday.
Victory over the Canaries at Emirates Stadium would hoist the Gunners up above their north London rivals and into the Champions League qualification spots with six games to play.
But the Gunners have tricky clashes against Everton and Manchester United looming large this month and Wenger knows that the battle for a top-four spot is only going to become more intense as the games run out.
“Tottenham will be hard competition until the end, Chelsea as well, and the only way we can deal with that is to look at ourselves and win our games,” said the Frenchman.
“They don’t play so we have a chance to build an advantage. But for four or five weeks ago we have known we have to win our games whether they play or not.”
Wenger added: “We are hugely determined and, of course, there’s a target for our two games now.
“But let’s start by being completely pragmatic, just focus on the first one and continue to play the way we have played recently.”
