Alan Pardew warned Newcastle that their Premier League status is still not secured after watching his side be pegged back and held to a draw at West Bromwich Albion.

Yoan Gouffran gave the Magpies an eighth-minute lead at The Hawthorns when he glanced a header past Ben Foster.

But the Baggies responded in the second half and drew level when Billy Jones tapped home in the 64th minute to earn a point for the home side.

The draw leaves Newcastle in 16th place in the Premier League table and only six points above the relegation zone with four games left to play.

“I don’t think so [in terms of us being safe] because we have to keep working,” said Pardew.

“Hopefully, we can get a couple more wins which will be the ideal thing.”
