Arsenal transfers: Júlio Cesar will cost decent money – Harry Redknapp
Arsenal transfers: QPR manager Harry Redknapp warns Júlio Cesar's suitors that the Brazilian will cost "decent money"
Harry Redknapp has warned Arsenal that Júlio Cesar will cost “decent money” if Arsene Wenger wants to lure the Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper to The Emirates this summer.
The 33-year-old is one of the Hoops’s most valuable assets following their relegation to the Championship, with the shot-stopper’s performances earning him a recall to the Brazil squad despite QPR’s disastrous season.
Cesar, who was recently photographed wearing a Chelsea shirt at David Luiz’s 26th birthday party, has a wealth of experience under his belt, having won five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the Champions League at Inter Milan.
Wenger has recently been linked with a move for the South American to install some much-needed experience amongst Arsenal’s goalkeeper ranks, but Redknapp had warned the Gunners that they would have to cough up a respectable fee to land him.
“He wants to go to Arsenal? Arsene Wenger will be here tomorrow, if he’s interested, I’m sure he’ll speak to me,” said Redknapp, whose side face the Gunners at Loftus Road on Saturday.
“He’s a top, top goalkeeper. There’s no doubt about that. He’s a Brazil international so for him to play in the Championship next year would be difficult. I can understand that.
“But he’s a good goalkeeper. It would take a good offer. How this game works is you buy players [and] those who don’t do well, you’re stuck with them but those who do well, they think they’ll walk away for nothing.
“You’ve got to get what you feel is value for him. He’s going to cost decent money if anyone wants to buy him. He’s a good goalkeeper.”
Cesar has kept six clean sheets in 24 Premier League appearances for QPR after completing a free transfer to the west London side from Inter last August.
