Arsenal transfers: Rene Adler not planning Hamburg exit
Arsenal transfers: Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler says he is not planning to quit the Bundesliga side in the summer
Rene Adler has played down the chances of him leaving Hamburg this summer, despite speculation linking the German goalkeeper with Arsenal.
The 28-year-old has impressed for the Bundesliga outfit in his first campaign at the Imtech Arena, keeping seven clean sheets in 31 top-flight appearances.
With Wojciech Szczęsny and Lukasz Fabiański both enduring mixed campaigns, Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen to sign a goalkeeper.
Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper Júlio Cesar has been one name linked with the Gunners, while Adler is rumoured to be another target for the north Londoners.
But the former Bayer Leverkusen man insists that he is not planning a move away from Hamburg in the near future.
“I am under contract with Hamburg, that is a fact,” Adler told Sport-Bild.
“I can say that I have not thought about leaving or considered a transfer since I joined Hamburg [in May 2012].”
In April, Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen attempted to play down the growing speculation, insisting there has been no contact from Arsenal.
“I know Arsenal are looking for a goalkeeper, but we’ve not been contacted,” Arnesen told Bild.
