Chelsea’s Demba Ba eyes Fernando Torres partnership
Chelsea striker Demba Ba believes he can form a partnership with Fernando Torres under the next Blues manager
Demba Ba believes he could form a successful strike partnership with his Chelsea team-mate Fernando Torres next season.
The Senegal international was signed by Rafael Benítez in the January transfer window but struggled to usurp Torres in the Chelsea first-team.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is expected to seal a return to Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks after Los Blancos confirmed his imminent departure, leaving Ba with a fresh opportunity to stake a claim for a starting spot at the west London side.
“We could do [form a partnership]. He [Torres] is a good man,” Ba said.
“We will have to see the view of the manager who is going to come in. We will have to see what he will bring to the team and if he can play two strikers, how he wants it.
“But we are not rivals, no chance. You learn a lot from having competition with players like this – it’s good for me. I’m getting better and better.”
Ba has scored 42 goals in 93 appearances in the Premier League during spells with Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham United.
