Fernando Torres believes all players want to work under Jose Mourinho at least once in their career as the Portuguese coach edges closer to a return to Stamford Bridge.

The path was cleared for Mourinho to return to Chelsea on Monday after Real Madrid announced that he will be leaving the club by mutual consent at the end of the season after three years at the Bernabeu.

Torres admits he is “very excited” about next season and says he would relish the chance to work with the 50-year-old manager.

“The chance to work with Mourinho is something every player wants to do at least once in their lives,” Torres is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

“He has been at the club before, some of the players have worked with him and know what kind of manager he is.

“Obviously we are waiting for the news about the new manager. Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world and Chelsea are one of the best teams.

“Normally, everyone is linking Mourinho with Chelsea but we will see what happens. I think we have to be ready [for him to come]. I am really looking forward to next season. It’s going to be very exciting.”
