Chelsea transfers: Andre Schürrle hints at Bayer Leverkusen exit
Chelsea transfers: Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Andre Schürrle hopes to be granted his transfer wish this summer
Andre Schürrle believes he may have played his last game for Bayer Leverkusen amid interest from Chelsea.
The Germany international featured for Sami Hyypia’s side in a 1-0 victory over Hamburg on the final day of the Bundesliga season on Saturday.
Chelsea have been linked with a bid for the £20m-rated midfielder, who has scored 11 goals and made six assists in 34 top-flight appearances this season.
And the 22-year-old is optimistic that he will be allowed to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season amid growing speculation surrounding his future.
“We’ll see. Certain things were promised to me,” Schürrle said.
“I hope they will keep these promises. It also depends on Leverkusen. I think, it was my last match.”
Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is reported to be a Leverkusen target although the midfielder hinted he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller says Schürrle’s exit is not definite and insists the club will find a suitable replacement if he does leave.
“Let’s all stay cool. We said it is only possible, if we find a proper alternative,” he said.
