Chelsea transfers: Romelu Lukaku admits that his future is "out of his hands" after striker's loan spell at West Bromwich came to an end
Romelu Lukaku admits that his future is “out of his hands” after the Chelsea striker’s loan spell at West Bromwich Albion came to an end this week.
The Belgian, who spent the season on loan at The Hawthorns, signed off in style as he netted a hat-trick in Sunday’s thrilling 5-5 draw with Manchester United.
The 20-year-old’s treble took his tally for the season to an impressive 17 goals, as well as seven assists, with Baggies boss Steve Clarke admitting he would welcome him back to the club next season.
But Lukaku is expecting to return to Chelsea and will then “wait and see” what happens regarding his future.
“It is out of my hands now,” Lukaku told the Express & Star.
“I will go to the internationals, go on holiday with my friends and my missus and come back and train hard with my dad and then go to pre-season with Chelsea.
“We will see what happens. This club will always have a place in my heart. It’s the club that put me in the spotlight and re-launched my career.”
Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht for around £10m back in the summer of 2011.
