Dietmar Hamann: I won’t be sad if Luis Suárez leaves Liverpool
Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann says that he will not be too disappointed if the club sell striker Luis Suárez this summer
Dietmar Hamann has said that he will not be too disappointed if Liverpool sell Luis Suárez this summer.
The Uruguayan forward’s future has been the subject of speculation since he was banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in their 2-2 draw at Anfield last month.
Suárez this week claimed that he would find it difficult to turn down an offer from Real Madrid should one arrive this summer.
Liverpool legend Hamann, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, feels that the player has let the Reds down too many times and took to Twitter to vent his feelings.
“Suárez has been a fantastic player for LFC but brought all the trouble on himself. Banned for 18 games in two seasons. I won’t be sad if he leaves” tweeted Hamann.
“On top of that LFC’s record is a lot better without him. And he’ll miss the first six games anyway.
“Not got a problem with players moving… it’s part of the game. But after biting Ivanovic I thought if he’s got half a conscience he’ll stay.”
Suárez has scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for the Reds this season, but is likely to be suspended until late September if he remains at Anfield beyond the summer.
