‘Staying at Tottenham is the right thing to do for Gareth Bale’
Glenn Hoddle is convinced Tottenham's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League won't affect Gareth Bale's future
Glenn Hoddle is convinced that Tottenham’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League will not affect Gareth Bale’s future at the club.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from White Hart Lane after Spurs were agonisingly pipped to a fourth-place finish by local rivals Arsenal on the final day of the season.
PFA player of the year Bale, who scored 21 league goals for the north Londoners during the season, has been touted as a target for Real Madrid and Manchester United.
However, former Tottenham manager Hoddle expects to see the talismanic Welshman stay at the club and improve yet further next season.
“I personally believe Bale will want to stay, irrespective of the club missing out on the Champions League. He’s a great player and I think it would be a good thing for him to do,” Hoddle told GiveMeFootball.
“It would obviously be a good thing for Spurs as well. He makes them a better team, no doubt about it, and can get even better next season.”
