Gareth Bale definitely staying at Tottenham, says Tim Sherwood
Gareth Bale will be staying at Tottenham beyond the summer despite missing out on a top-four finish, says Tim Sherwood
Gareth Bale will “one million per cent” be staying at Tottenham beyond the summer despite missing out on Champions League qualification, according to Spurs youth-team coach Tim Sherwood.
The 23-year-old was the star of the show once again as he netted the winner at White Hart Lane to beat 10-man Sunderland on Sunday.
But despite Bale’s heroics, Spurs were forced to settle for a Europa League spot after Arsenal finished a point above their north London rivals.
Reports this week have suggested that Bale is close to signing a new £150,000-a-week contract to stay at White Hart Lane.
And Sherwood is convinced that the Wales international will remain at the club.
“He’s fantastically happy at Tottenham,” Sherwood told talkSPORT.
“I see him around the training ground every day, he’s got a good working relationship with the manager and he loves his team-mates. They show him the respect that he deserves and he gives it back to them.
“I don’t see him banging the door down trying to get a move. I believe one million per cent he will stay at Tottenham.”
PFA player of the year Bale scored 21 Premier League goals for Tottenham after a stunning campaign for Andre Villas-Boas’s men.
