He’s the perfect fit! Brendan Rodgers hails Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Phillippe Coutinho "fits perfectly" into his plans for the Reds
Brendan Rodgers says Philippe Coutinho “fits perfectly” into his vision for Liverpool after the midfielder impressed in a 3-1 victory at Fulham on Sunday.
The 20-year-old showed signs of a blossoming partnership with Daniel Sturridge as he created two of the striker’s three goals.
Coutinho has scored twice and made six assists in 12 appearances for the Reds after completing a £8.5m switch from Inter Milan in January.
It was initially feared the Brazil international could struggle with the Premier League’s physicality, but Rodgers is thrilled with the youngster’s impact.
“He made over 100 appearances before he came in here,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website.
“Even though he is only 20 and though he may be small in stature, he’s got real strength and he has the right temperament.
“For me it was going to be interesting to see how he would cope with the physicality. His body work is incredible. How he rolls the ball and the way he passes. His comfort on the ball is amazing.
“He fits perfectly into what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to build a team of winners, who are technically competent and he’s got wonderful technique.”
