Kyle Walker has singled out Gareth Bale’s sensational winner for Tottenham at West Ham United as his moment of the 2012-13 season.
With the score level at 2-2 at Upton Park, the 23-year-old rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner in the 90th minute to earn Spurs a crucial win which lifted them into third place in the table in February.
“Gareth’s winner at West Ham is right up there,” Walker told Tottenham’s website “Where he pulled that strike from, only he knows.
“One minute I looked at him and he was on the floor, the next he’s produced that finish.
“To whip it into the top corner when [Jussi] Jaaskelainen had been outstanding all game… he didn’t get anywhere near it. In fact, put 10 of him in there and they still wouldn’t have got near it.”
The Tottenham defender also reflected on Spurs’ dramatic 3-2 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford back in September, as well as the 1-1 home draw against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
“Beating United at Old Trafford, that has to be right up there and the late equaliser against them at the Lane too,” he continued.
“They’ve done it so many times to other teams and it was nice to do that against them.
“It was a key moment of the season and Clint [Dempsey] was there in the right place at the right time, as he has been so often all year.”
