Liverpool’s Coutinho: Sturridge and Suárez make my life easier
Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho says Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge make his life easier at the Merseyside outfit
Philippe Coutinho admits Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge are a dream to play with at Liverpool.
The 20-year-old Brazil international has made an instant impact at Anfield following his £8.5m move to the Reds from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
Coutinho’s suitability to the Premier League had been questioned but the playmaker has scored two goals and made five assists in 10 Premier League appearances.
The former Espanyol youngster produced a man-of-the-match performance to help Liverpool secure a 6-0 win against Newcastle United last weekend and showed signs of a growing understanding with Sturridge.
“He [Sturridge] is an excellent player and very intelligent. He has a lot of technique and scores a lot of goals – I am very pleased to play alongside him,” Coutinho told Liverpool’s website.
“Luis [Suárez] and Sturridge move a lot and that makes things easier for the player with the ball – we can put the ball in the empty space and I think that makes things easier for the player that plays behind them.
“By playing with huge players like the ones we have at Liverpool I can learn a lot and I hope to be able to learn more every day to get better and better.”
Coutinho also described his performance at Newcastle as his best display since joining the Merseyside outfit from Serie A three months ago.
“I believe the game was very important, all of the players played well and we achieved a very important result.
“I believe my performances have got better and I think it was my best game here. I hope that I can continue to improve.
“I love to create assists. When you play up front you want to create chances, either for yourself or your teammates, and score goals. I hope to help the team by doing this.”
