Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez again speaks out about his future
Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez moves to clarify his comments about his future amid mounting speculation surrounding the striker
Luis Suárez has moved to clarify his comments about his future amid mounting speculation over the Liverpool striker’s situation at the club.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Anfield in recent days after he told Uruguayan radio that it would be “difficult” to turn down an offer from a club of Real Madrid’s stature.
But although the forward has explained his comments and insists that he is not in any talks with other clubs, he did not take the chance to commit his future to the Merseyside outfit.
“I said that it would be difficult to turn down Madrid because I believe that it’s impossible to say no to any of the big clubs – the sides where you dream of playing,” Súarez told a news conference in Uruguay on Thursday.
“But right now, nothing has happened. I haven’t spoken to Real Madrid or Liverpool.
“I don’t know when or where I will go to or whether I will stay.”
Súarez is currently serving a 10-match ban handed to him for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic – and the striker says he has been through a “very difficult” spell since joining Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011.
He continued: “If I stay, I will be thrilled because Liverpool is an amazing club but they realize that it will be difficult because of the constant hounding I receive from the press. The club fully understands that.
“I went through a really tough, very difficult period when there were a lot of lies said about me – that is what made me angry.
“Everyone has their limits and my family also suffer and that is not easy for me.”
