Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez flattered by Real Madrid link
Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez opens the door to an Anfield exit by admitting that it would be "difficult" to say no to Real Madrid
Luis Suárez has opened the door to a transfer away from Anfield by admitting that it would be “difficult” to say no to Real Madrid.
Speculation over the 26-year-old striker’s future has been rife in recent days and Madrid are the latest club to be linked with a summer bid for the Liverpool star.
Suárez, who has also been linked with Bayern Munich, says that it has been a “difficult year” for him and his family on Merseyside in a radio interview in his native Uruguay, and admitted he is flattered by the reported interest from Los Blancos.
“The desire to win with the big clubs is always there. I’ve talked to my agent [and] there’s nothing concrete,” Suárez told Sport890 in Uruguay.
“I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid.
“There are a lot of rumours in the transfer period, but you never know until firm offers are made.
“I’m happy at Liverpool, I’m happy because of the fans. I love the city, but this year has been difficult for me, for my wife and for my daughter.
“I’ve talked to the coach [Brendan Rodgers], and he knows what I want. Some of the players understand my situation; enough said.”
Of the way he is portrayed in the British media, the forward added: “I worked too hard to having to continue listening to the criticism I get from English journalists.
“I’m not prepared to continue to put up with the English press.”
Suárez, who scored 23 Premier League goals for Liverpool last season, is currently serving a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
