Liverpool transfers: Reds warned off move to sign Ron-Robert Zieler
Liverpool transfers: Hannover tell the Reds to forget about trying to sign goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler this summer
Hannover have told Liverpool to forget about trying to sign goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler this summer.
Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen to bring in another shot-stopper to increase competition with current first-choice Pepe Reina at Anfield.
Zieler, capped twice by Germany, is a former Manchester United trainee and spent two seasons at Old Trafford before moving to Hannover in 2010.
The 24-year-old has since established himself as the Bundesliga club’s first choice between the posts and started all of Hannover’s league games this season to help them to a ninth-place finish.
But after reports linking Liverpool with a swoop for the shot-stopper, Hannover general manager Dirk Dufner has insisted that the German side have no intention of selling.
“Zieler will stay,” said Dufner. “He is a super goalkeeper.
“It’s rather normal he is in the focus, and I was actually wondering why, until now, he had not been approached by another club.”
