Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge: Philippe Coutinho has been a great addition
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge heaps praise on Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho for his impact at Anfield
Daniel Sturridge believes Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho has been a “great addition” to the Liverpool squad.
The 20-year-old has effortlessly made the transition from Italy’s Serie A to the Premier League following a £8.5m move to Anfield from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
Coutinho has already scored twice and made five assists in 11 top-flight appearances for the Reds, including a man-of-the-match performance in a 6-0 win at Newcastle United.
And Sturridge, who joined from Chelsea in January too, heaped praise the midfielder for his impact since arriving on Merseyside.
“It’s very difficult for players to adapt when you come from a different league,” Sturridge told Liverpool’s website. “I’ve played with a few Brazilian players. When I was at Man City I was with
Robinho and Elano and at Chelsea I was with Oscar, David Luiz and Ramires and now I’m here with Philippe and Lucas.
“I joined at pretty much the same time as him so we’re both new to the philosophy of Liverpool and looking forward to the future.
“Philippe has shown that he has adapted very quickly to English football. He’s provided some very nice assists and got a couple of goals as well so he’s been a great addition to the squad.”
