Man City transfers: Isco wants to continue with Manuel Pellegrini
Man City transfers: Isco hints he would be keen to continue his working relationship with Citizens-bound Manuel Pellegrini
Isco says he would like to continue his relationship with Málaga boss Manuel Pellegrini amid reports suggesting he could follow the Chilean to Manchester City.
The 21-year-old has blossomed into one of La Liga’s brightest stars this season under Pellegrini’s tutelage, prompting interest from City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Isco, who has one Spain cap, scored eight goals in 33 top-flight appearances, while also impressing in Europe as Málaga reached the latter stages of the Champions League.
With Pellegrini the favourite to succeed Roberto Mancini at the Citizens, Isco appeared to suggest he would like to follow the outgoing Málaga boss to the Etihad Stadium.
“He’s been my footballing father and I know that he likes me and, for me, of course I would like to continue with him because he’s given me all the confidence in the world,” said Isco.
Isco has been a regular in Málaga’s starting line-up since completing a switch to the Champions League quarter-finalists from Valencia in 2011.
And the Spain Under-21 international, who will feature at the European championship next month, wants to ensure he is playing regularly wherever he plies his trade next term.
“It’s a very important decision for me and I don’t want to get it wrong,” he continued.
“I have doubts because I want to play, wherever it is, and that’s the most important thing.
“I don’t want to regret it after not getting many minutes.”
He added: “I’m not closing my door to anyone but my priority is to play and I don’t want to be on the bench.
“We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
