Man City transfers: Juventus eye Carlos Tevez deal
Man City transfers: Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta confirms the club’s interest in Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez
Juventus have a better chance of completing a deal for Carlos Tevez than Gonzalo Higuaín, according to their sporting director Beppe Marotta.
The Serie A champions, who retained their top-flight crown at a canter this term, have made no secret of their desire to strengthen their attacking options in the summer.
Juventus have already snapped up Athletic Bilbao frontman Fernando Llorente on a free transfer and have recently been linked with Real Madrid’s Higuaín.
But Marotta reckons Juve have a better chance of signing Tevez, whose Citizens contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
“I have to say that Higuaínis a bit younger and has a higher market value. Tevez on the other hand has a year left on his contract so maybe between the two, the Tevez deal is easier,” Marotta told Sky Italia.
“We are not the first to notice his quality and experience. He is a player with a big desire to rebuild his career.
“Nevertheless, he is owned by City and we have made no approach to them. It is obvious that even in the event of an agreement with the player, the club still has an important say.”
Tevez, who is also a reported target of Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, has scored 73 goals in 138 appearances for City after completing a controversial move from Manchester United in 2009.
