Man City transfers: Sergio Aguero pens one-year contract extension
Man City transfers: Sergio Aguero says he is thrilled to pen a one-year contract extension with the Citizens which will run until 2017
Sergio Aguero has signed a one-year contract extension which will see the forward stay at Manchester City until 2017.
The 24-year-old Argentina international had been linked with a return to La Liga amid reported interest from Real Madrid in recent weeks.
Aguero has scored 47 goals in 69 starts for the Eastlands outfit since completing a club record £38m move to City from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
And the Citizens star, who scored the winner against Queens Park Rangers to secure the Premier League title in 2012, is thrilled to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
“I’m very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It’s been barely two years since I’ve arrived and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for all my life,” Aguero told City’s website.
“I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment.
“Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again.”
City, who sacked Roberto Mancini in May, have already tied down Gael Clichy, Yaya Toure and David Silva on new deals, with Manuel Pellegrini widely tipped to succeed the Italian.
