Man United transfers: Everton's Marouane Fellaini admits his Champions League desire despite being happy at the Toffees
Marouane Fellaini insists he is happy at Everton despite admitting his Champions League aspirations.
The 25-year-old played a key part in the Toffees’ top-six finish this season, with the Belgium international scoring 11 goals in 31 Premier League appearances – his best return for a top-flight campaign.
Chelsea were reported to be interest in the midfielder earlier in the campaign, while Manchester United, who appointed David Moyes as manager earlier this month, are the latest club to be linked with the Belgian.
But although Fellaini, who has three years left on his Goodison Park deal, is desperate to play in Europe’s premier club competition, the former Standard Liege man is concentrating on the Toffees.
“Look, we accept the manager is ambitious, and it is Manchester United, so we are happy. And I am ambitious too – of course. I have to be to succeed in football,” Fellaini told the Daily Mirror.
“I am happy at Everton, I have three more years on my contract after this season, so we will see.
“But of course I am ambitious, everybody wants to play Champions League – it is the most important competition for a player, and I am no different.
“We will see what happens.”
