Michael Carrick admits he is excited about the prospect of working under new Manchester United manager David Moyes from next season.
The 50-year-old was confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Old Trafford earlier this month, with the Everton boss set to take over from his compatriot on 1 July.
Carrick, who was crowned United’s player of the year last week, was brought to Old Trafford by Ferguson from Tottenham back in 2006.
And although the 31-year-old expects Moyes to have a different approach to his former boss, the England international is looking forward to the “new challenge” that lies ahead.
“I think you have to be excited,” Carrick told MUTV. “We have to take on the challenge and it is obviously a new challenge.
“It is going to be a slightly different feeling coming back to pre-season and not really knowing what is going to happen.
“We know we have got the tour and where we are going, but in terms of day to day things, it is going to change. How much change we’ll have to wait and see because there is not too much wrong, but we have a new manager with new opinions.
“David Moyes is his own man and I am really looking forward to working with him and moving forward both as a team and as individuals.”
