Paulo Ferreira says “everyone” wants to see Jose Mourinho back at Chelsea this summer.
The Portuguese coach is the heavy favourite to take over from departing interim boss Rafael Benítez at the end of the season, with the 50-year-old looking increasingly likely to quit Real Madrid.
Ferreira, who played under his fellow countryman at both Chelsea and Porto, believes Mourinho’s return would “mean titles” for the west Londoners.
And speaking after Chelsea’s Europa League final triumph over Benfica, the 34-year-old admitted he would be pleased to see the self-proclaimed Special One return to Stamford Bridge.
“He is someone who came into Chelsea and this means titles; that is what the club wants,” Ferreira told Sky Sports.
“The last 10 years that he has been a coach you can see he succeeds in every league. That is why everyone wants to see him here, but let’s see what happens.”
Reports linking Mourinho with a return to Chelsea heightened in recent days after it emerged Real Madrid had made an approach for PSG head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
