Redknapp: QPR wouldn’t finish in top half of Championship
QPR manager Harry Redknapp says the current Hoops side wouldn't finish in the top half of the Championship next season
Harry Redknapp says Queens Park Rangers’ current side wouldn’t finish in the top half of the Championship after a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United at Loftus Road.
The Hoops took an early lead after Loic Remy netted his sixth Premier League goal since joining the west London side from Marseille in the January transfer window from the penalty spot.
However, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran overturned QPR’s lead to hand the Magpies a crucial three points which cemented their Premier League status.
With QPR managing just four victories in 37 attempts, Redknapp hinted the Hoops would have to undergo a squad overhaul in the summer ahead of next season in the second tier.
“It’s been a miserable season,” said Redknapp.
“Something has got to be done because if you take that team out there at the start of next season we wouldn’t finish in the top half of the Championship.
“We haven’t got the quality in my opinion, we’re short of good players who can really play at the top level.
“We’re going to have to do something about it. It’s going to be a very difficult job.”
