Tottenham Hotspur denied Chelsea the chance to secure their Champions League spot after twice coming behind to secure a draw at Stamford Bridge.

Oscar opened the scoring in 11th minute before Emmanuel Adebayor equalised with a brilliant curling shot into the top corner.

Ramires then temporarily restored Chelsea’s lead but Gylfi Sigurdsson levelled with 10 minutes remaining to leave Spurs fifth and Chelsea third.

Here is a selection of our favourite tweets from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order after an entertaining top-four clash.

Tottenham midfielder Sandro (‏@sandroraniere) is ready to watch his team-mates play at Stamford Bridge: “On time …. Good luck guys!”

Swansea winger Wayne Routledge (‏@WayneRoutledge) is amazed by Adebayor’s first-half strike: “OMG Ade Ade Ade that is majestic! That had the Fifa finesse button all over it…”

Former Spurs chairman Lord Sugar ‏(@Lord_Sugar) can’t believe Adebayor has actually scored: “Oh my god where did Adebayor get that one from after months of me and everyone else slagging him off? 1-1!”

Ex-Liverpool striker Don Hutchison (‏@donhutch4) enjoyed Villas-Boas’s reaction to the goal: “Ha ha ha AVB reaction to the goal wow wow wow. Like a little kid. Brilliant!”

Crystal Palace defender Peter Ramage ‏(@peterramage8) praises the referee Mike Dean for allowing play to continue in the build-up to the goal: “What a finish by Adebayor but fair play to Mike Dean, refs get some stick but great advantage played!”

Former Nottingham Forest star Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏(@JanAageFjortoft) agrees: “Great goal from Adebayor. Also well done referee Mike Dean, gave advantage/play-on in situation just ahead.”

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour (‏@RealRomfordPele) is happy with the scores as they stand following Ramires’s goal: “2-1 Chelsea. That will do! #top4”

Ex-Norwich defender Iwan Roberts ‏(@iwanwroberts) likes the simplicity of Chelsea’s second: “Can’t beat the old toe poke finish always surprises the keeper.”

England legend Gary Lineker ‏(@GaryLineker) can’t believe Spurs haven’t won at Stamford Bridge since he was a player: “Ridiculous that Spurs have not won at Stamford Bridge since some big-eared goal hanger scored the winner there 23 years ago. Get a grip!”

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann ‏(@DietmarHamann) is impressed by Branislav Ivanovic: “What a signing Ivanovic has been for Chelsea ….competitor of the highest level #unsunghero”

Ex-Norwich City striker Darren Huckerby ‏(@hucks6dh6) is enjoying the top-four clash: “What a game this has been! #CfcvSpurs”

Hutchison ‏(@donhutch4) gives Villas-Boas some tactical advice: “AVB, get Defoe on man!!”

Finally, Parlour ‏(@RealRomfordPele) lets Arsenal know what is required: “Got to beat Wigan and Newcastle. #gooners”
