Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas eyes ‘good grabs’ over summer
Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas eyes some "good grabs" in the summer market to strengthen the Spurs squad
Andre Villas-Boas says Tottenham Hotspur will look for some “good grabs” in the summer transfer market as they bid to improve their squad.
Spurs cruelly missed out on a fourth-place finish despite beating Sunderland after Arsenal were 1-0 winners against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Villas-Boas expects Spurs’ top-four rivals to strengthen over the summer and the 35-year-old revealed the north London side will be active in the market.
“We got so close but our rivals will do their job in the window,” said Villas-Boas.
“We will do our job the Tottenham way — scouting properly, looking for good grabs in the summer to make it a stronger squad. We have to continue to raise the bar.”
Villas-Boas also heaped praise on his Tottenham squad despite the disappointment of failing to secure Champions League football for next season.
“The players have been absolutely immense in how willing they were to achieve our objective,” added Villas-Boas.
“With this amount of points, what can you learn is that the level [in the Premier League] has gone up, and it will go up again next season because you expect Liverpool to be in the mix too. “We have to continue to raise the bar.
“We’ve given a good run to Arsenal and Chelsea, teams who play for the title. We’re not very far away from them, so let’s take this lesson into the future and make it better next time.”
