Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas insists Spurs will strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window

Andre Villas-Boas insists Tottenham will strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window – regardless of whether they secure Champions League qualification or not.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League table with three games left to play as they look to book their place in Europe’s elite club competition.
But Villas-Boas is adamant that the Tottenham hierarchy are prepared to splash the cash ahead of next season in order to strengthen – even if the north Londoners fail to qualify for the competition.
Asked whether the transfer funds at his disposal will be scarce if his side finish outside of the top four, Villas-Boas replied: “No. At the moment our future must be analysed in only one direction.
“For us, the objective is always to improve the team and for that to happen either we have Champions League money to make it easier, or we have to invest and risk a bit more.
“But the objective is always to better what you did last season. We have to have one direction only.”
Tottenham travel to Chelsea on Wednesday knowing that a victory at Stamford Bridge will move them into fourth place and level on points with the Blues.
