Wigan can stay up if they beat Swansea, says Kevin Kilbane
Kevin Kilbane believes Wigan Athletic will go on to secure their top-flight status if the Latics beat Swansea City on Tuesday night
Kevin Kilbane believes Wigan Athletic will go on to secure their Premier League status if the Latics beat Swansea City at the DW Stadium on Tuesday.
Roberto Martínez’s men are three points from safety but can move out of the danger zone and into 16th position by beating the League Cup holders.
Wigan came from behind to secure a 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, and Kilbane reckons the Latics have a great chance of staying up if they win their game in hand.
“The way that Wigan seem to play at the end of the season they seem to thrive on this pressure of needing a win every single game,” Kilbane told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I fancy them to beat Swansea and I think this’ll be the catalyst to get them out of trouble and stay safe this season.”
Wigan, who face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Sunday, suffered a 2-0 loss to Swansea in this fixture last season but Michael Laudrup’s men are currently on a seven-game winless run.
