Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that his father Mark is always challenging the Arsenal midfielder to score more goals.
The England international scored the Three Lions’ opening goal in a 2-2 draw with Brazil earlier this month after netting twice for Arsenal last season.
And the 19-year-old, who was limited to just 11 Premier League starts last season for the Gunners, is keen to follow his dad’s advice and “kick on” in the 2013-14 campaign.
“My dad wants me to score more goals,” Oxlade-Chamberlain is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
“He’s always telling me to do that. He’s right, because I want me to score more goals – I know that’s one of the things I need to improve on for next season.
“I want to improve my overall game. You can always keep learning and getting better. I know I still have a lot to do.
“What I want to do is kick on next season. It was a dream end to the season, to score at the Maracana.
“It was a good end for Arsenal as well. And when I get back for pre-season, I will be really looking forward to next season.”
