Cesc Fàbregas has poured cold water on speculation linking the midfielder with a sensational return to Arsenal by insisting that he plans to stay at Barcelona for “many more years”.

Reports that the 26-year-old could be set to leave Camp Nou this summer have gathered pace in recent weeks, with both Manchester United and his former club touted as possible destinations for the playmaker.

However, the Spain international insists that there is nothing to the rumours and plans to stay at his boyhood club, where he is “very happy”.

“There is nothing to say,” said Fàbregas when asked about the recent transfer speculation, according to Metro.

“I’m very happy at Barça, and I want to stay for many more years to come.”

Fàbregas left Arsenal for Barcelona in the summer 2011 and still has three years left to run on his contract with the newly-crowned La Liga champions.

The midfielder scored 11 goals in 32 Primera División appearances for the Catalan outfit last season.
