Arsenal transfers: Julio Cesar refuses to rule out Serie A return
Arsenal transfers: Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar refuses to rule out a return to Serie A this summer
Julio Cesar has refused to rule out a return to Serie A as Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for the Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper.
The Brazil international, who is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup, has three years remaining on his current Hoops deal but Harry Redknapp has hinted Cesar will be allowed to leave.
Cesar spent seven years at Inter Milan, winning five Serie A titles and the Champions League, and the goalkeeper insisted he wouldn’t turn down a move back to Italy because of his Nerazzurri past.
“I played for Inter but this doesn’t preclude my return to Italy,” Cesar told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“My agent is working on my future but it’s better to talk about it after the Confederations Cup.”
Earlier this month, the 33-year-old admitted he has enjoyed living in London and would be happy to remain in the Premier League.
“There is some interest from other clubs but nothing is concrete. Harry Redknapp left the door open for me. I have three more years on my contract with QPR, Harry knows this, and he talked about me with the press,” Cesar told the Telegraph.
“He said: ‘Cesar can’t play in the Championship, he has to play in the Premier League or Serie A’. I was really happy with the words that he used about me with the press.”
He added: “I would like to stay in English football because I enjoy London a lot, it’s a great city to live in, I love the Premier League.”
