Arsenal transfers: Juve still hoping to sign Gonzalo Higuaín
Arsenal transfers: Juventus general director Beppe Marotta believes there is still time to complete a deal for Gonzalo Higuaín
Beppe Marotta believes Juventus still have time to hijack Arsenal’s bid for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuaín.
The Argentina international appears to be on the verge of a reported £22m switch to the north London side, with the forward said to have agreed terms with the Gunners.
The Serie A champions have been linked with a swoop for Higuaín in recent weeks and Juve director-general Marotta is still optimistic the Turin outfit can sign the Madrid forward.
“Higuaín? I do not want to say anything because there is still so much time left for things to happen,” Marotta told Sky Sports Italia.
Juventus are reported to be chasing another Arsenal target, Stevan Jovetic, as well as Manchester City’s controversial forward Carlos Tevez as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his attacking options.
But Marotta was remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking the Italian champions with the Fiorentina midfielder and Argentina international.
“There is no hurry. They are both great players but they are also with great clubs, so it would not be right to discuss them,” Marotta added.
“I do not want to create an illusion that things are already in motion.”
