Arsenal transfers: Perry Groves calls on Gunners to splash the cash
Arsenal transfers: Perry Groves hopes Gunners make moves to sign Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini
Perry Groves is hoping Arsenal splash the cash to sign Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini this summer.
The Gunners are thought to be closing in on a £22m deal to bring the Real Madrid striker to north London, while Rooney has been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium in recent weeks.
Everton midfielder Fellaini has also emerged as a possible transfer target for Arsene Wenger’s side over the last few days.
And former Arsenal winger Groves wants to see the Gunners table bids for all three players this summer.
“It’s not either Higuain or Rooney,” Groves told talkSPORT.
“As an Arsenal fan if you sign Higuain, Rooney and trigger the release clause for Fellaini, then that would increase [the quality of] your side by 30-40 per cent straight away.
“Higuain can play up front on his own and Rooney is just a [fabulous] footballer. He had a fantastic season, before Robin van Persie went there, when he played up front on his own and he can play in behind a striker.
“People forget he had one season where he played left wing when Cristiano Ronaldo was there. He can do a job for the team wherever you ask him to. He’s at his best when he’s in the free role.”
