Arsenal transfers: Stevan Jovetić not heading to Milan, say Fiorentina
Arsenal transfers: Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade says Stevan Jovetic isn't heading to Milan this summer
Stevan Jovetić isn’t heading to AC Milan in an exchange deal which would see Stephan El Shaarawy join Fiorentina, according to La Viola’s sporting director.
Fiorentina chief Daniele Prade and AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani were reported to have met to discuss a potential deal which would see the highly-rated midfielders move in opposite directions.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a summer move for Montenegro international, while Italian youngster El Shaarawy is a reported target for Premier League runners-up Manchester City.
But the Fiorentina sporting director insisted their meeting was not to discuss a potential deal involving the two up-and-coming Serie A stars.
“This is an invention of press about the news referring to an exchange between El Shaarawy and Jovetić,” said Prade.
“It’s true I met Galliani in a restaurant, but we have absolutely not spoken about exchanges, so these things are groundless.”
Jovetić scored an impressive 13 goals and made five assists in 31 Serie A appearances, attracting interest from north London side Arsenal.
However, Galliani backed up Prade’s claims and rubbished reports of a deal between the two clubs involving El Shaarawy and Jovetić.
“It isn’t absolutely true. We met in a restaurant and we spoke about other things, there isn’t a negotiation for an exchange”, Galliani said.
