Ashley Cole is convinced that Chelsea are set to enjoy a successful season next term following a gruelling 2012-13 campaign.
The Blues participated in eight different competitions last season as they secured a third-place finish in the Premier League and also lifted the Europa League trophy.
And the 32-year-old England defender is hoping that the west Londoners can improve on their showing in 2013-14 under new boss Jose Mourinho, who was appointed on a four-year deal earlier this month.
“I think a lot of us needed the break after a tough season,” Cole told Chelsea’s website.
“It was the longest season the club had ever had, and we all played a lot of games.
“In the end I think we can be proud of what we achieved though, with picking up a European trophy and making sure we qualified for the Champions League.
“With the right preparation this time around I am sure we will be able to do even better.”
