Edinson Cavani has hinted he may opt against a move to La Liga amid interest from a host of top Premier League clubs.

The Uruguay international is proving to be one of Europe’s most-sought after strikers this summer, with the 26-year-old a reported target for Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

And the Napoli star, who has a £53.5m contract release clause, believes he could struggle to adapt to Spanish football, providing his English suitors a boost in the race to sign the forward.

“I don’t know if Spanish football suits me,” said Cavani.

“Football there is wonderful as everyone knows, you have more freedom, but I don’t know what will happen.”

Earlier this week, Cavani admitted he would like to work with Chelsea’s new manager Jose Mourinho.

“It would be a pleasure to be managed by someone like him [Mourinho],” Cavani told Sky Sports.

“Chelsea? I don’t know if they’ve made an offer for me but I know that working for a coach like Pellegrini or Mourinho would be a great pleasure.

“It would certainly be a great honour to join one of the illustrious teams that are looking at me because I dreamed about doing that as a child. At the moment, though, I am only focused on Uruguay.”

Cavani, who has 49 caps for Uruguay, scored 29 goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season.
