Fernando Torres says he wants to become the best striker in the world again amid reported interest from Barcelona.

The 29-year-old enjoyed his best season at the Blues since joining the club in a record £50m deal in January 2011, scoring 22 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions.

Torres has been linked with a return to his native Spain as the forward tries to rediscover his best form and become the world’s most-feared finisher, like he was at Liverpool.

But the Spain international is adamant that he is not interested in a move to the newly-crowned La Liga champions and wants to see out the remaining three years of his Blues deal.

“I want to continue, I want to complete the contract I signed and continue winning trophies and I would like to be the best in the world in my position again,” Torres told AS.

“It’s always nice to hear about interest from clubs like Barcelona, but my plan is to stay at Chelsea.”

Torres added that he is relishing the opportunity to play under Jose Mourinho, who signed a three-year deal with the west London side earlier this month

“There’s no better place than to be than at Chelsea with Mourinho,” added the Spaniard.

“He has won a lot more than many of us. It’s a new challenge and we’re looking forward to it.”

Torres has scored 34 goals in 131 appearances for the Blues after completing his big-money move to Stamford Bridge from Anfield in 2011.
