Fernando Torres says he wants to stay at Chelsea and work with new manager Jose Mourinho.

The Spain international produced a respectable return of 22 goals in 64 games last season, netting in the Europa League final triumph at the Amsterdam Arena.

However, the 29-year-old has largely endured a miserable two-and-a-half year spell at the Blues following his British record £50m move to Stamford Bridge in 2011.

And, unsurprisingly, Torres has been linked with a return to his former club Atletico Madrid, but the former Liverpool striker wants to stay at the Blues.

“I’m looking forward to the chance of working with Jose,” Torres said.

“It is the same every summer, there is talk and rumours every day.

“When I signed for Chelsea I signed for five-and-a-half years and I want to be there for all of that.”

Meanwhile, Branislav Ivanović expressed his delight to have the chance to work with Chelsea’s new boss Mourinho.

“I’m so happy because it is a pleasure to work with one of the best and most successful managers in the world,” said Ivanović.

“I know it’s going to be hard, but I’m happy and look forward to that.

“He is the best for what we can expect at Chelsea. Everyone who loves the club is so excited. A lot of fans will be so happy.”
