Chelsea transfers: It’s useless talking about my future – Edinson Cavani
Chelsea transfers: Edinson Cavani says that it is "useless" talking about his future but admits the situation with Napoli is "delicate"
Edinson Cavani has admitted that talking about his future is “useless” amid the continuing speculation linking the striker with a transfer to Chelsea.
The 26-year-old’s situation at Napoli has been a source of constant headlines in recent weeks, with both Chelsea and Real Madrid heavily linked with the Uruguay international.
Napoli are refusing to sell the player for anything less than the £53.8m release clause in his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2017.
And Cavani, who has also been linked with Manchester City, says that he will discuss the options available to him behind closed doors when he returns to Naples.
“Today the only thing I can think about is that I have a contract with Napoli. For now, Napoli are my club,” Cavani told Globo Esporte.
“It is useless to talk about my future. I, the main protagonist in this transfer story, do not know anything.
“I just know that I’m at Napoli still and I have to go back there. I think once I have finished the Confederations Cup, I will have a few days of rest and then sort things out. I will return to Napoli and face the situation.
“It’s a delicate situation without doubt. But these things I do not want to speak about in front of a camera.”
