Chelsea transfers: ‘Kevin De Bruyne wants to join Dortmund’
Chelsea transfers: Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc says Blues midfielder Kevin De Bruyne wants to join the club
Kevin De Bruyne wants to join Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, with the midfielder impressing as he scored 10 goals and made nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.
Champions League runners-up Dortmund are looking to replace Bayern Munich-bound Mario Götze and manager Jürgen Klopp is reported to have his eye on Chelsea’s Belgium international.
At his unveiling, Blues manager Jose Mourinho hinted De Bruyne had a future at the club, but Dortmund sporting director Zorc claims the midfielder wants to join the German side.
“We are interested in the signature of Kevin De Bruyne. We are not at the helm in this respect, of course,” said Zorc.
“I am however able to confirm the player does want to make a transfer to our club.”
Dortmund have also been linked with a swoop for Liverpool target Christian Eriksen, with the playmaker openly stating his desire to leave Ajax this summer.
But Zorc insisted he is unaware of any Dortmund interest in the Denmark international, who scored 10 goals in Ajax’s title-winning campaign.
“I have been very surprised to read this,” said Zorc.
