Luka Modrić says he isn’t thinking about leaving Real Madrid despite interest from “other clubs”.

The Croatia international joined Los Blancos from Tottenham Hotspur in a £33m deal last summer but the midfielder’s manager Jose Mourinho recently sealed a return to Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a possible switch to the Blues but Modrić is keen to stay at the nine-time European champions despite feeling sad about Mourinho’s departure.

“I’m not even thinking about the possibility I could leave Madrid this summer, but there is interest from other clubs,” Modrić told the Sun.

“Every kid who plays football dreams about playing for Real Madrid. It was the same with me.

“Of course I was sad when Jose Mourinho left. He was the one who insisted in bringing me to Madrid. He is a fantastic coach and I am honoured to have worked with him.

“He really impressed me. It’s such a pleasure to play in his team and talk with him about football.

“I wish him all the best in Chelsea. I believe he will use all his knowledge and expertise at Stamford Bridge once again.”

Modrić scored three goals in 32 La Liga appearances last season, while netting the winner in a 3-2 aggregate victory over Manchester United in the Champions League second round.
