Chelsea transfers: Roma deny Daniele De Rossi talks with Blues
Chelsea transfers: Roma sporting director Franco Baldini says the club have not held talks with the Blues about Daniele De Rossi
Roma have not held talks with Chelsea about the possible sale of Daniele De Rossi, according to the club’s sporting director Franco Baldini.
The Blues confirmed Jose Mourinho as their new manager on Monday with the Portuguese coach signing a four-year deal with the west London side.
De Rossi has been touted as a possible target for Chelsea, but Roma’s Baldini rubbished claims that the Rome outfit and the Blues have been in discussion about a deal for the midfielder.
“For De Rossi, I have not done anything and I can not say anything,” Baldini told Corriere dello Sport.
De Rossi, 29, has been a mainstay of Roma’s first-team and Itay’s national side over the past seven seasons, winning the Coppa Italia twice.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s west London rivals Fulham have agreed a reported £4m deal to sign Netherlands international Maarten Stekelenburg from Roma.
Baldini said: “I went to London for the sale of Stekelenburg at Fulham.
“There were questions to be answered, but I closed a deal subject to the usual conditions.”
Fulham’s current first-choice goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer admitted his future at the Cottagers is in doubt with his current contract set to expire this summer.
“There’s no new developments; there’s no new discussions; there’s no nothing,” said Schwarzer.
“Something will be sorted out – I’ve got no worries about that. I’ve got no idea at this stage where I’m going to be. I’m open to anything.”
