Chelsea transfers: Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is set to stay with Blues next season after holding talks with Jose Mourinho
Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is set to stay at Chelsea next season after holding talks with Jose Mourinho.
The Belgium international’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks following his return from a season-long loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.
It had been suggested that Lukaku could be sent out on loan again next term after the forward scored an impressive 17 goals for the Baggies last season, with West Ham United also interested in a temporary deal.
But the 20-year-old says he is planning to stay at Stamford Bridge and battle his way into the first team under the newly-appointed Portuguese coach.
“I always said my ambition was to play for Chelsea, and now I will go back to Stamford Bridge and try and play even more games than I did at West Brom,” Lukaku is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“I have had a good conversation with Jose Mourinho, and I know it’s up to me to show I’m worth a place. I am determined to succeed with Chelsea next season. I want to prove myself.
“People will compare me with Didier Drogba, and he was always my hero. But I am my own man, and I want to be known for what I do.”
