Cristiano Ronaldo confident of agreeing new Real Madrid contract
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he is close to signing a contract extension at Real Madrid amid speculation over his future
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he is close to signing a contract extension at Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old’s current deal with Los Blancos is set to expire in the summer of 2015 and there has been mounting speculation over his future in recent weeks.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have both been touted as possible destinations for the Portugal international should he opt to quit the Bernabeu.
But the forward has moved to quell the speculation over his future by insisting that he expects a deal to be done “soon”.
“I know that we will soon reach an agreement. I am feeling very well. I’m calm and not too worried about it,” Ronaldo said on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has come under criticism from newly-appointed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese coach’s departure from Real Madrid.
“Perhaps Cristiano thinks he knows it all and the coach can’t help him to improve,” said Mourinho. “Whenever he gets advice, he doesn’t take it well.
“He has been carrying a back injury for the past few weeks; and I am never in any doubt whenever one of my players has an injury.
“He put in three fantastic seasons with me – I don’t know whether they have been the best years of his career or not but we worked out a fantastic tactical system for him, one which allows him to maximize his full potential and express himself through scoring goals.”
