De Gea: It will be a ‘pleasure’ to work with Moyes at Man United
David De Gea is relishing the chance to work under new Manchester United boss David Moyes next season
David De Gea is relishing the chance to work under new Manchester United boss David Moyes despite admitting his surprise at Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
Moyes is set to officially take over at Old Trafford on 1 July after being confirmed as Ferguson’s successor last month.
And although goalkeeper De Gea admits that Ferguson’s decision to call time on his decorated career caught the United squad by surprise, the Spaniard is looking forward to a new era under Moyes.
“It was a surprise to us all that Ferguson left,” De Gea said.
“But we know that when we get back to training he [Moyes] will be there and it is going to be a pleasure to work with him.”
De Gea has made 80 appearances for the Red Devils after Ferguson signed the Spain Under-21 international in a £17m deal from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
